I dreamed I brought a truckload of baggage with me on a romantic escapade. Eek! Luckily in real life the truck is invisible, but at some point, that baggage begins to surface unless we have sorted through it and donated what we can to "Good Will."
What baggage are you bringing into your new relationships? Do you know?
Before your attend your next blind date, important business meeting, or work review, allow 10 minutes to journal or reflect upon the following:
1. What are my fondest hopes for this situation?
2. What do I assume is most likely to actually happen?
3. Why do I believe that? (Look deeply here. Are you harboring beliefs because you've experienced something similar in the past or because you have been told by a reliable source that this is what will happen?)
Hold this sheet of paper to your heart and let yourself experience the emotions of these realization. If you have fear, anger, distrust, or concern, allow yourself a few minutes to allow these feelings to course through you without judgement.
When you are ready, crumble the paper into a ball and hold up in front of you. Say a heartfelt prayer to your creator. This may be God, Goddess, Great Spirit, or another. If you are Atheist simply acknowledge that you are letting go of this mental construct from your memory banks. Here is a sample prayer you are welcome to use:
By the Healing Fires of my intention and desire,
By the Light of Creation, which eviscerates the shadows that don't serve my highest good,
I invoke Love, I ask for the blessings of connection and compassion in this situation,
And as an offering for this gift, I give my baggage, all of it, to be transformed into more love and light.
So it is!
You can burn your journaled notes, or throw them into a trash can, because now these old beliefs do not serve you. Note: if you're doing this somewhere public, be sure it's not a trash can that people may pull things out of, because you don't want to see or hear about this information again!
Place your hands in prayer position over your heart, and take one more minute to hold a new vision of the situation you are going into. Allow this vision to be filled with the feelings of positivity and love. See yourself interacting in positive ways that reflect you at your most polished!
Now go have fun!
