Our Lineage
Healing Heart Reiki honors the lineage of Usui Reiki Ryoho, the system of Reiki developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s. We teach in a tradition that flows through Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi and Hawayo Takata, passed down through healers who have kept the light of Reiki alive in every era.
I, Dailey, was initiated into this lineage for the first time, by Patricia Merritt-Smith. As a mixed-race Japanese and African-American woman raised Buddhist, Reiki felt like a return home for me. It helped me reconnect to an ancestral healing consciousness I didn’t yet have words for.
At Healing Heart Reiki, we teach with reverence for the roots of Reiki, honoring what came before, even as we understand that spirit is always evolving.

Reiki Principles
At Healing Heart Reiki, we are guided by the Five Reiki Principles taught by Mikao Usui:

✧ Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
✧ Just for today, I will be kind to all living things.

The Lotus and the Light
In the first few years of my business, Pearl gave me the gift of this lovely lotus candle holder, and that became the logo for Healing Heart Reiki.
For me it is a reminder that, like the lotus flower that blooms and thrives by taking the mud of life as nourishment, we are able to transform all of life's circumstances to shine our own lights in the world.
Together as friends in community and in the world, we can encourage and illuminate each other. With love and compassion, we can heal the world.
