Holding On Through Spiritual Labor

It is a pregnant time. I know so many people who want inner transformation so much they are ready to burst, but that change just isn’t quite there. I have good friends who are going through massive change, but to them it still doesn’t feel quite enough; they want more.

Why is that?

We are in a time of multiple and layered transitions as our global consciousness begins to shift away from a model of hierarchy and power-over, into a new learning paradigm of internal empowerment and power-with. We are letting go of ego driven power in favor of heart based power. For example, instead of cutting people down in order to establish dominance (ego-driven), we are learning to celebrate the victories of everyone around us as we strive, recognizing that we are not in competition, because it is impossible to compete with others when you are firmly seated in your unique life purpose (heart-driven).

For some of us this is old news. We’ve been living parts of this new paradigm forever. For others, our lives and careers are so intertwined with an over-culture that puts us constantly on the defensive, that we can’t even imagine a life in which co-workers and employers non-competitively celebrate our dreams and encourage us to blossom from within.

Most of us are still in labor, birthing ourselves fully into conscious relationship with our own personal power, in ways that enhance the world around us. We may mostly know what’s happening, but struggle intellectually to make the necessary changes for our birthing to be joyful. We may find ourselves in situations where we are no longer content with the old way, but we’re still looking for a new way. Here are a few places to look for answers that may carry your forward:

Look in Your Heart. Often the truest way forward is in our own hearts. I have spoken with many friends and clients recently who have friendships and relationships operating in this old paradigm, where they are either in competition, oppressed, oppressing, or commiserating with friends through conversations that egoistically divide them from others. They are unhappy and they know there’s a better way forward. It is time to allow those relationship patterns to shift. What does your heart say to do? Can you introduce new ways of communicating? Are you close enough to talk about these ideas? Are you ready to explore other relationships?

Research a Keyword. We don’t often think our personal situations will benefit by research. However, if you connect with a word that symbolizes what you’re seeking and research that word, it may carry you forward. For example, perhaps you love your sales-oriented job but you hate the culture in your office. Could it be more peaceful? Cooperative? Try doing a web search for workspace cooperation, or corporate peace training. At the worst you may get a few laughs as you imagine connecting your findings to your real-life experience (and laughing is great), and perhaps a few survival skills. At the best, you may discover practical tips for changing you environment in ways that will empower everyone.

Ask for Guidance. We so often forget to simply ask. Reiki life force, our guides, and guardians are abundant in the universe, but as humans with free will, we must ask to receive. Every major religion and spiritual teaching points this out, and I personally have found it to be true. The moment you can unite your mind and heart around your desire for change, ask in as many places as possible. Ask Spirit, ask friends, ask employers, ask the stranger on the street for solutions. You may be surprised by what you find when you allow solutions to gravitate toward you.

Remember, life can be joyful. Even the darkest night may sparkle with stars, or present an amazing dawn. Even when you’re not certain how to move forward, life will carry you forward. Enjoy the flow even as you learn new ways to co-create with the world around you.

Healing Blessings!
