As an energy healer and priestess, I am constantly reminded of the interconnectedness of all living beings on this beautiful planet we call home. Our Earth, our Mother, is a living entity that supports us, nourishes us, and provides us with a sanctuary to thrive in. But just like any living being, she needs our care and attention.
Back in 1970, a group of passionate activists led by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson came together to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect our environment. They recognized the profound impact of human activities on our planet, and the devastating consequences of pollution, deforestation, lack of green spaces, and exploitation of natural resources. Thus Earth Day was founded.
Since then, Earth Day has become a global movement, uniting people in a collective effort to protect and preserve our planet. Today is a day to honor and celebrate the beauty and bounty of Mother Earth, and to renew our commitment to be responsible stewards of her gifts.
Nature is healing. The flight of tiny seeds being dispersed by wind, the hum of bees pollinating vibrant flowers, the wild symphony of waves crashing on the Sonoma coastline to clear the shore - these are all reminders of the innate wisdom and resilience of our planet. Mother Earth has the capacity to heal herself through her natural cycles, but she also needs our conscious efforts to support her in this journey.
It's time for us to rise as a global community and take action to protect our planet!
We can make small changes to reduce our carbon footprint such as picking up trash, using less water, turning down heating/ac thermostats, purchasing less plastic, doing more things "by hand," purchasing locally made items, and practicing sustainable living.
We can also petition for legislative policy changes (change dot org or check your local government page), support renewable energy sources like solar power, and advocate for conservation efforts in our local communities.
Do something this weekend with love in your heart for our planet and all its inhabitants. Let's work towards a harmonious coexistence with nature.
Remember, our actions today will shape the future of our planet for generations to come. We owe it to future generations, and to all of the creatures that call Earth their home to be responsible stewards of life.
Yes, we can be the change we wish to see in the world and leave a healthy vibrant planet for our children and grandchildren. The time is NOW.
Happy Earth Day!
