This is a book review for the book Shamanic Reiki by Roberts & Levy.
I was really excited when I first picked up this book, as the topic of shamanic Reiki is one that makes total sense. Shamanic work is all about energy, and so is Reiki. In my own healing practice over the years, I have often combined earth wisdom, herbalism, soul retrieval, and chord clearing, with Reiki. Many of my students have wanted to do the same, and yet traditional Reiki books and teachings just gently touch on this.
In Shamanic Reiki by Llyn Roberts & Robert Levy, we get to dive headlong into an exploration of shamanic philosophy and its relationship to Reiki. There are a few books out there on this topic, but this book specifically excels at introducing the mindset of Shamanic Reiki work. You learn how to think as a practitioner, and the writers create space in their writing for you to reflect on all that is possible, while still understanding the nuts and bolts of your energy healing sessions.
I found myself wanting to underline certain passages because they were so beautiful. The writers easily captured ideas that are not commonly written about in Reiki or modern magickal texts.
The book breaks down basics such as your relationship with the elements, the spirit of place, chord clearing, soul loss & retrieval, exorcisms, and absentee sessions. It's under 200 pages and easy to digest. I highly recommend it, and if you are one of my Reiki Masters reading this article--please go pick it up!
