Let’s talk Coronavirus for a moment. The Coronavirus is a Virus, not a bacterial infection, so antibacterial hand sanitizers may not be as effective as you think, though if there is alcohol in them, that will still kill surface colds.
“Viruses are very different from bacteria, which are living organisms. Viruses live inside us, but they are much smaller than bacteria. Viruses need a host to survive. Unfortunately there is no antibiotic that will kill a virus; they only work on bacterial infections. The good news is that our own immune system can protect us from many viruses. With help from antiviral herbs our immune system may be even more effective.” (Well-said, from the gardening channel)
If you want to stay strong, it’s time to remember what your mamma taught you. In my home, that meant chicken noodle soup, high vitamin C (as fresh orange juice), lots of rest, NO Television, and tons of water. Our family has always been holistically inclined, so we also incorporated a lot of folk wisdom.
Remember you ways you have healed from the past, and take advantage of them. Also increase your arsenal of knowledge by trying helpful herbs; feed your body real foods that support antiviral activity. These foods help your body move out viruses like the coronavirus:
🌺 Garlic- try aged raw garlic extract in liquid form daily
🌺 Oregano-especially oregano oil, as the active elements only happen on oil form. Take it daily
🌺 Elderberry- taken daily elderberry syrup will help you clear out colds faster
🌺 Echinacea- a long time favorite, I’ve found echinacea in tea and tincture combo form to be most effective when taken BEFORE you are sick.
🌺 Astragalus- in tincture form, it will help prevent colds but only when taken while healthy. (Do not take when you are sick)
As with all herbal wisdom, this list is meant to inform you, but ALWAYS check with your medical professional before beginning herbal regimens. Herbs are real medicine, and can interact with other medication, so be practical.
The current Coronavirus is a Virus, so practicing safety the same way you would in a room of people filled with the common cold will be your best bet. Trust your heart. If you feel you want to wear a mask, or use disinfectant wipes, then do so.
In our home, we are taking elderberry syrup everyday, keeping surfaces as clean as we can, and minimizing the foods and activities that compromise our immune system.
Happy Healing!
