Yesterday I spent a beautiful day at the ocean, and I’m so ready to welcome the spirit and energy of October. As a spiritual metaphysical teacher, my “church” is nature. I find the sacred and divine in every situation, and in each moment. Of course there are times I forget about the sacredness of things, but I see my human life as a glorious journey of ever-blossoming understanding, compassion, and desire.
It was in an October decades ago that I received my Buddhist scroll and official initiation into the Buddhist practice. I was born into Buddhism, hearing the sounds of my mother’s chanting even from her womb, and later sitting on her lap or running circles around her as she learned and studied in group meetings. She had this idea that her own search for enlightenment could positively impact and raise up those she loved.
Living with that ideology, I determined from a young age to heal and understand the wounding within myself, that I might somehow help make the world a better place.
Over the years I had many other experiences that also shaped me, including another October initiation and ordination as a priestess of the goddess Auset (Isis!). In direct channel with her, she’s often reminded me over the years that my Buddhist practice, though different, echos very similar stabilizing practices by the priesthood of Ancient Egypt.
My deepening into Reiki in the 2000’s felt like coming home to my Japanese culture and spiritual ideology. As a part Black, part Japanese woman who does not look very Japanese, teaching and sharing Reiki from this dual-cultured place has been deeply nourishing to my soul. It’s my culture, and yet it is also a system of teachings that Usui wanted for everyone in the world.
The point of Reiki was for people to have a way of developing happiness within their lives. When you remember Usui, *your spiritual lineages, and practices, it is so much easier to feel your strength.

What you’re going through right now is so personal in your life. Your life is precious, and worth loving and fighting for. Anywhere you’re stuck or challenged, know that your greatest steps toward a life of happiness will begin from within.
If you’re not sure what that means, or how that should look, call me or send me a message and I’d be happy to get you started.
Xoxo
